1️⃣
Lion of Amphipolis
The Lion of Amphipolis is a large marble statue from ancient Greece, built around the 4th century BC. It is believed to honor an important general of that time. Standing over 8 meters tall, it symbolizes strength and respect. Some believe it once stood above a significant tomb. It is one of the most impressive monuments in the area.
2️⃣
Amphipolis Museum
The Amphipolis Museum displays archaeological finds from the region, dating from prehistoric to Byzantine times. One of its most important exhibits is the tomb of the Spartan general Brasidas, which includes remarkable items such as a gold olive wreath and a silver box. The museum offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich history of Amphipolis through real ancient artifacts.
3️⃣
Ancient Wooden Bridge of Amphipolis
The ancient wooden bridge was 275 meters long and located north of Gate C, in the direction of the river. Today, only 101 wooden piles remain, which formed the foundation of the bridge. On top of these, a system of beams would have supported the wooden deck of the bridge.
4️⃣
Refreshment Stop “Stou Bakali”
A traditional refreshment spot in the center of the village, where visitors can enjoy local appetizers and authentic Greek flavors.
5️⃣
Venetsanos Nuts – Almond & Walnut Processing (Ofrynio, Kavala)
Since 1986, the Venetsanos family business has been cultivating, processing, and wholesaling high-quality Greek almonds and, more recently, walnuts. Located in Ofrynio, Kavala, the company combines tradition with modern technology, operating advanced almond cracking and processing equipment.
